Your first look at Casa Turire comes when you approach down the long majestic row of mature palms that lead from the road to the main entrance. It lies in a serene and lush rural setting beneath the majestic Irazu volcano, surrounded by beautifully manicured landscaping. You will receive a most wonderfully genuine welcome here from the operators of this delightful European-owned resort who have taken great pains to make Casa Turire very much "worth the trip" to you, no matter how far you have traveled. If you are looking for attentive but not overbearing service, a serenity of decor that lulls you into the ultimate relaxation mode, a cuisine that induces you to ponder the menu long before mealtime, then look no further. What is remarkable about this facility is its dedication to relaxation. The spacious high-ceilinged rooms each have a balcony where you may survey the natural surroundings in complete privacy. Leave your room and you are presented with the elegant scene of a large, tastefully decorated foyer that invites you to descend the broad staircase to join your fellow travelers below. Leading off the foyer is the dining room which opens out onto the poolside terrace. Less formal dining is also available under a shelter outside, with views of the large lake nearby and the waterfowl it attracts. Guests may also sink into deep leather chairs in the library, or surround themselves in rich woodwork while they enjoy a drink at the cozy bar and survey the tranquil scene. This property supports a stable of riding horses, a small piggery, and an aviary on its spacious grounds, and you are even welcome to assist in milking the goats! Try your hand at kayaking or canoeing on the large nearby lake. Guided horseback rides through surrounding fields and nearby forest trails are made directly from the hotel's stables. Educational tours of plantations and processing plants, the volcano crater, and rainforest canopy are all easily arranged from the hotel, and even whitewater rafting excursions are offered on a nearby river. Each room is equipped with two full-size beds, safety box, room service, hair dryer, satellite TV, shower with tub, laundry service, ceiling fan, and private balcony.

Notes The nearby town of Turrialba is the agricultural supply centre of the region. The main crops of coffee, sugar, and macadamias are harvested for 3 months each in sequence starting in October. Tours to the nearby processing plants are highly recommended, as they will give you an entertaining education and genuine contact with locals in the area. This is the real working Costa Rica.
