This is a very authentic Costa Rican family hotel, and while the owners make every effort, communications may take a little extra time. Your patience will be rewarded, however. Built in 1897 by the Montealegre family, prosperous coffee exporters of the day, and located on the main busy Paseo Colon road close to shops and business centres, this grand home has been recently converted to hotel accommodation. It is now a family-owned 18-room hotel where Senora Paola del Risco will welcome you into this glimpse of San Jose history. Spacious and central, this hotel is rich with fine dark wood paneling, high ceilings, and tile and wooden floors, displaying a mix of art-deco and antique furnishings. Built in the traditional Spanish style in San Jose's original exclusive residential section, it now provides 18 rooms for guests. Behind the original house is a tropical garden courtyard surrounded by more modern rooms that are further removed from the street. You can feel the life of the early coffee plantation elite and the gracious welcome of your hostess.

Notes Rosa del Paseo is located on Paseo Colon, the main commercial street of San Jose, close to the central business district. Parking is being arranged by the hotelier soon, as only the smallest cars will be able to negotiate the narrow driveway into the hotel property. Breakfast is included, but dinner may also be served by special arrangement.

A 10% non-refundable deposit will be taken by Inns en Route at the time of confirming your reservation. If cancelled at least 15 days prior to reservation, no hotel charge. If cancelled between 11 and 15 days prior to reservation, 50% of first night will be charged. Less than 11 days, 100% will be charged.
