This aparthotel overlooking Samara village and the bay beyond is unique and ideally suited for families or groups. In high season, this can be a rather warm part of the country, and the elevation of this hotel catches cooling breezes that the town and beachfront facilities do not enjoy. Air conditioning here is not required, as large overhead fans in each of the six spacious apartments provide all the cooling required. It is very close to the village, yet removed just enough to provide quiet sleeps away from the night action. The apartments are spacious and each has an enormous deck for enjoying the sunset views, and the building backs onto forest so the birds are there each morning to greet you with a song. The German owner Max is very welcoming and is happy to share his thorough knowledge of Costa Rica with you in 5 languages. He is also well qualified to organize excursions to nearby forest and sea attractions. The staff are pleasant and helpful, laundry service is available, and the pool is a great spot to soak up some sun without sand. The restaurant is in a tower above the facility, and provides fabulous views. It serves dinner only. Each unit is set up for housekeeping, so you can gather your morning fruit and bread at the market on the way home from the beach just 3 blocks away the previous day and enjoy breakfasts on your private view deck. Sounds like a great vacation, doesn't it?

Notes Fishing, sunning, beaching, walking, relaxing, eating, snoozing, swimming, bird watching, and just plain wandering about. Samara is good for all of this – a nice quiet little town with just enough visitors to make it interesting.
